Bought a Crumpler!!

Finally! I bought my Crumpler laptop bag that i have been eyeing for ages!! Yipee man!!! Yeah! It's black in colour, superbly sleek, what a beauty!

Went to shop again today. Pop by the Man U shop at Forum, it seemed to have shrunk. Less mechandise, i am not sure why, but quite disappointing. I actually intended to get some Man U shirts, but there weren't any with designs that attracted my attention.

Anyway, anyone know of a shop in Singapore which sells LA Lakers merchandise?

Oh, i went to Zara. That time with Yinglin, she pointed to me some nice trenchcoats which cost $110 each. However, there weren't any left. The cheapest was $139, but it was more hmmm...classy. I am gonna hurry down by this week to get it, before it slips out of my grasp again man!

Oh, and i went to Far East with Lydia and Xueling. We came out from a shop only to be confronted by a crowd mobbing a neighbouring shop. At first, i heard someone whispered 'Olinda'. I was like, 'Wah! Singapore Idol semi-finalist also can create such a stir?' Actually not. Xueling, being the curious one, tip toed (Lydia was curious too, but she was not as blessed with height! Hee hee! :) ). Guess who it was? Jolin Tsai. Couldn't even recall who she was. Apparently, at an earlier shop, while Lydia was in the fitting room, and Xueling was browsing through the clothes, and i was trying my best not to snooze on the seat, Jolin actually came into the shop we were in. All 3 of us didn't realise or recognise her. Haha. Dumb. Small world. Looking forward to more shopping!!

Change in plans

Forgot to mention that my flight has been brought forward to 13 February Sunday.

Better, because Valentine's Day suppose to be a happy day. Haha!

Dead Tired

Let me make a quick entry. I have exactly 3 minutes before 'My Mighty In-Laws' start.

Went to Orchard to catch 'The Forgotten'. It almost turned into a horror show. Jumped a mile many times during the show. Sian. You know what the show is about? Know what exactly happened? Aliens. I can't believe it. I thought Aliens were fadng out fast, now they have been resurrected. But the show is good, lots of shocks, and most importantly, it has a happy ending. Haha.

Anyway, Teresa and i strolled down Orchard Road shopping away. Saw so many T-shirts, can barely contain myself from purchasing everyone of them!

Oh yeah, we were walking down the road, when i saw this middle aged man beckoning towards me. He had a purple balloon dog in his hands. I thought he got the wrong person, so i started to walk away, ignoring him of course! (My trademark, haha!) He stood in front of us and shoved the dog into my hands and scolded saying, "Just take it! It's free! You want to make donations than you make. Don't want also can!"

I was like, Huh??!!! You are scolding me??!!! For not taking the thing you are distributing? I mean, don't i have the right not to accept it?! Are you crazy? Darn it. I was too shocked to react. And of course, i had to put in some money, not right to take stuff from charity. Can't believe it. Forced to donate money. Not that i mind but i am still reeling with shock from the man's behaviour. This is crazy. Oh yeah, now i am stuck with a purple balloon dog. I got a pink balloon apple, but Teresa simply took it away because she liked it. Sigh! :)

This jet lag is also getting on my nerves. I came back at 5.30pm and promptly fell asleep. I wanted to work out at 7.30pm, but i only woke up at 8pm. This is so irritating!

Lovely day today

Very happy, not too sure why, though i was slightly irritated this morning. I realised it doesn't really take much to be happy. Was supposed to play basketball with Irene. Went all the way there to find the court teeming with a legion of sweaty, glistening, half-clad guys racing on the court after a darn ball. What can i say? Use my female authority to order them off the tarmac? Irene and i can take on maybe 2 or 3 alpha males, but definitely not 12 of them, so we trudged under the blazing sun to another court. What can i say? This time the court was swarmed with sweaty, pot bellies, fully-clad middle age men, past their prime, but playing basketball intensively. Like hell we were going to budge this time. So Irene and i just ignored them and started bouncing the ball. Know what this guy came over and say?

"Sorry Miss, we playing full-court."
I asked how long the game would take, and he had the audacity to grin and say the whole day!!!!!! Irene and i blinked at him in shock. This is a public court you know??? How can you just use the whole court for yourself, and the whole day???

I didn't retaliate, just grabbed my stuff and stormed off. I don't know much about Basketball ethics on neighbourhood grounds, but i doubt it is supposed to be this unreasonable. But the man was gracious enough to let us use one end of the court when they were fighting for the ball at the other end of the court. But we declined, would be a hindrance to their game which can be irritating, i would be if someone is not gracious enough to excercise more consideration. So i was fuming, i wanted to work out!

Anyway, Irene and i decided to pop by Coffee Bean to drink coffee and catch up with the times. We met Teresa on the way, and dragged her along. Went Starbucks instead, since Teresa insisted on having only Frappucino Rhumba. We went to watched Saw as well. I tell you the killer in the movie is really psychotic. No normal human being would mastermind and orchestrate such chilling, cold-blooded murders, and viewing them for his pleasure.

Anyway, last movie to catch, The Forgotten. Watching in with Teresa tomorrow. Whao, that is like straight movie seeing since i jet back from the US.
Thurs - The Polar Express (Geraldine)
Sat - Taxi (Yinglin)
Sun - Saw (Teresa & Irene)

Mon - The Forgotten (Teresa)

This is mind-boggling. I need a job, i am determined to find one.

TAXI

This is an amazing movie! Hilarious, sizzling and awesome!

The constant bickering between Queen Latifah and Jimmy Fallon adds lots of colour to the screen. The antics of Washburn (Fallon), and the reaction evoked from Queen Latifah is simply hilarious. Not to forget the sizzle Vanessa (Gisele Bunchen) and her gang brought to the screen!!!

This is a gem of a film! Catch it or you gonna regret!

Stunned....

You know what? I found a new place to get bottoms, instead of boring old jeans! Plus, the pants look feminine, yet they are comfy!! Esprit!!! I never knew i could fit into the pants they carry!!! I was reluctant to try, especially when i saw Yinglin held up a pair. The largest size, 40, yet it looked miniscule to me. I was even more horrified when Yinglin said i should not even look at 40, and maybe look a size up, 38. Anyway, the salesgirl literally didn't give me a chance to calm down my frantic brain, before bundling me into the fitting room. While i was trying on, i couldn't help thinking of the movie White Chicks, and how the actor (Marlon Wayan) tried to squeeze into a super small pants, and how the actress was going, "You never needed a bigger size, you just have to push!!! Come on, i will help you" Haha! Thankfully that didn't happen anytime. To my complete astonishment, the pants fitted perfectly, and even had some allowance! And it was not even the largest size. So shocked!!! I purchased 2 pairs on the spot. They were really nice pants. Hmmm....now i know where to get my Chinese New Year clothes! Heh heh!

But i was also a little bewildered with myself. I bought a number of jeans from US, and i bought 2 sizes too big. The jeans were practically hanging around me, and Yinglin said that i looked like i had a huge butt because of all the extra space. Really, i must be mad. Size 8 had some allowance, but i didn't purchase them, instead i opted for 2 sizes larger. Sometimes, i really can't fathom what the hell i am thinking of!! But no fret, the jeans are comfortable, and gives me an excuse to wear larger tees! Haha!

But on a more serious note, i am not sure whether it is just me, but i find female clothings to be uncomfortably small, tight and clingy. And girls just seem to want to buy smaller and smaller articles of clothes to squeeze into. For those who can carry it off, good for them, but for those who try too hard, surely going a size larger won't hurt? And i feel this encourages all kind of eating disorders. I am quite confident i am not fat...not yet anyway, but i seem to be buying clothes that tilt towards the large side. I wasn't particularly concerned at first, but somehow, i start having ridiculous thoughts infiltrating my brain. I started having self doubts on my fitness, and that is really crazy. I exercise more than normal youths my age, and i still think i am fat, beyond hope. That is really not healthy. Yinglin said people have different size bones. I agree with that, but i feel sad that this world is so myopic in view, where petite is rooted for and desired after.

Movie still from White Chicks, how Marlon Wayan is trying to squeeze into a pants way too small!

mAmBo ToNiGht!

Feeling a little crazy now, no particular reason. Just feel very happy! Haha!

Went to choose my specs today. Made two, because my parents fear that i will break one pair in Aus, and it will be so difficult to find an optician over there. Chose two frames of the same style, but different colours. Crazy right? But don't care, love at first sight. Haha. Tinted the lens of one pair, so one shall be my studying glasses, the other shall be my going out glasses. Haha! So exciting. The optician said i had to wear everyday though, but it's ok! The frames are cool coloured! Bought a wine (red) coloured one, and a purple one. Got purple tinted lens. Haha!!

Oh by the way, my flight to Aus has been confirmed. I only know the day and the Airlines. Other details not yet out, will let you all know via sms for more details. Not convenient to post up here, haha! Anyway, i will be leaving on 14 Feb (Yes, i know, so if you need time with your beaus, it is all right with me! What to do? My mum booked the flight. Show how much romance left between my parents. Sigh. Haha!) Jetting in Qantas Airways. I have always been looking forward to studying in Melbourne. But i don't know why when my mum confirmed with me the flight via an sms, i was suddenly overwhelmed with apprehension. They will stick with me for a week before leaving. So i will be in a foreign country all by myself, one week before semester officially starts. So scary. *Shudder* First year jitters. Not going to think about it. Think i will pop by the bookshop one of these days to get a sightseeing guide on Melbourne.

Watching Taxi tomorrow with Yinglin, and praying fervently that it doesn't rain in the late afternoon. I am excited to get back into soccer training.

By the way, in case you are wondering whether i am still upset about being involved in competitive sports, i finally figured out how. The key is to enjoy Social games, and adamantly refuse to be dragged into matches. That's how. Haha!

Yay!!!

By the way, any of you free? I need someone with a fashion sense to go shopping with me. I am getting sick of tees, hoping to know of some other comfy tops to wear. Haha!

It's a bright new cheery morning. I refused to acknowledge that i was up at 5.30am and couldn't sleep anymore! And i went without sleep for more than 24 hours just to get a good night's rest. I can't believe jet lag is so difficult to shake off. I discovered eye bags. Blah.

Anyhow, supposed to be watching Taxi later with Yinglin, but there don't seem to be a suitable timing. Waiting for her reply.

Smsed friends at this unearthly hour, asking them to take a break from their hectic schedules to go out; and i found some early birds, like Cheryl and Wai Han. So happy! Haven't met both of them in ages. Wai Han is one of those sporty people whom i can count on for embarking on adventurous trips! Yeah!! Exams will end next week, i get to see my friends again!!! Social life back in full swing!! Haha!

Gonna pop by the optician later to choose a new frame. Broke my specs in US. Think i will be going blind soon, at the rate i am straining my eyes, staring at the computer screen all day long.

The Polar Express

I survive the whole day without catching a single wink!! So i can finally doze into slumberland tonight.

Bugged everyone, finally managed to get hold of Geraldine to watch a movie and go shop around in Suntech with me. It was her last A-level paper today, what a coincidence!

Anyway, The Polar Express is a feel good show. I didn't have any inkling what the show was all about, only knew i wanted to watch because the poster was so captivating. However, if you are looking for a treat, i suggest you give this a miss. It can be quite draggy and really it is meant for kids. The only thing that prevented me from slumbering is the music and the morale of the story. I am now hooked on getting the soundtrack!

And the little boy in the show is so darn cute!!!

Jet Lag

I am not sleeping, i am wide awake, my eyes refuse to shut. I am bored, and my mood has swung again. And i can't believe i am tuning to Perfect 10 to keep me company. First time this year. Now you know i am desperate. Haha.

I am back on the computer, looking for nocturnal people. They seemed extinct all of a sudden.

Been thinking about sports. I shouldn't worry so much. Take things as they come. I shall resume soccer training even if they are only for a few sessions. At least i am doing something i am happy.

Come next week, i will be happy skating, playing tennis, badminton, and maybe even basketball, when exams finally release my friends from their clutches.

Been thinking. I am in this state, because i have not been hanging around sports people often enough. Save for one or two friends, the rest of my pals prefer shopping, sleeping to playing games. Plus it is my own doing since i committed the better part of the year for Judo. Now i am released, naturally i am bored. Haha.

Got to find more people with the same level of excitement as i, the same boundless energy as i. I am wearing my friends out. Is TV that interesting? How come i don't think so?

Ok, i am on a crusade to find sports people!

Bottomline, i'm bored.

Going crazy

I'm driving my friends mad, even patient Lydia has labelled me fickle-minded in exasperation. But i can't help it. Running, basketball, badminton, soccer, touch rugby, i used to play these games when i was in TK, it was so fun. Now i don't even touch a ball. How can you play such sports alone?? Everyone's too tired to play, or mugging away, or don't like to pespire, or don't like the sun. Why is everyone so feminine nowadays??? Why?? Playing such games constitute being a male??? Is that true? I wanna continue playing these sports, because i like them, but i don't want to play competitively. Wait a minute, what am i talking about? No one is free to play with me anyway.

Competitively means that there is a constant pressure to be better than the rest, the constant expectation that you must win, and the disappointment that comes along with it when you don't, regardless whether you did your best or not. Face it. If you don't win even though you played your heart out, you will still feel miserable, and worse, you won't even cut the team or you drag the team down and everyone is unhappy with you. Now understand why i keep changing my mind over my CCAs? Because all these CCAs are competitive. I want CCAs that provide intensive training that is comparable to competitive, but they are social sports, so there is no must to win, no disappointment to contend with. Alas, i don't see that anywhere. CCAs with no need to win, the trainings are so slack, it is maddening. And those with intense training which i relish, the pressure is on. From the coach, from your friends.

Don't anyone get it??? I can't learn if you push me!! I will push myself, i don't need you to interfere! When i am stressed, i fumble. And when i fumble, i think i am lousy. And when i think i am lousy, i really give everyone the impression that i am when i am not!!!!! This generates a fear in me, a huge reluctance to try, because i am afraid i will fail and i don't want to contend with the disappointment from you, even though you claim you are not. I still think you are disappointed and i have let you down, and then, there comes the guilt. I know i can do it. It's the fear generated from these pressure, and the lack of courage to face the onslaught from everyone when i missed that shot, or fail to block the attack. But a team is not like that. A team is when everyone works together, and no mistake is singular. A team encourages, motivates and helps one another. You are not chided for your mistake, instead you sit down, you analyse the mistake, learn from it and don't repeat it. No black faces from anyone, no glares from team mates. Isn't that the way it should be? Or am i too idealistic again? Or i have such feelings because i have been so down on my luck that i have never been in a team that is truely a team? Is it just in Singapore or does this exist everywhere?

Is there a team out there who's willing to not just look at winning, but at the effort the team mates put in?

Angels and Demons by Dan Brown

Believe it or not, The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown is still left untouched in my cupboard. I decided to start on Angels & Demons first. Boy, i think that book should be put on the tourism board of Rome! I didn't know Vatican City was filled with so many historic buildings. Imagine all the photography scenes you can take! It is endless and mind-boggling! Go read the book. It actually jump started a mild interest in the Arts for me. Amazing. You read about the Illumanti, Bernini, Gaileo etc.

Anyway, i have finally uploaded all the pictures i took during the New York trip. You can view it under 'Photo Memories'. I can't sleep, though i am exhausted. My biological clock has yet again been messed up. Now i am not sure whether i am still following US or Singapore time. My stomach growls at odd hours in Singapore time, but it is actually lunch time in US. Funny, haha. In case you are wondering, New York is behind us by 13 hours. That's why when i travelled from Singapore to New York, i didn't see night for 24 hours, because i gained a day! Haha. But i lost a day when i returned.

I slept at 6.45am today and awoke at 11.33am. Feeling tired. Meeting Kah Ming later. Exams over right? Feel free to call me out for some sports. No more other activities. I promise. Not busy anymore! Haha!

More on New York

I forgot to add some more stuff i learnt on my trip.

I realised that Hollywood is not located in New York, it is located in Los Angeles.

Secondly, i also realised that racial tension is not as discreet as i thought. On Long Island, where my cousins reside, their neighbourhood is purely White. The people residing there are Whites, Italians, Irish, Chinese. Across the road, in the other neighbourhood, reside the Blacks, Hispanics and Mexicans. They don't cross into each other's neighbourhoods. If a Black shifts into one of the houses in the White neighbourhood, the Whites will shift out. This is why some areas which were predominantly White, have become occupied by Blacks now. Now i am glad that Singapore government has strict rules on the ratio of Chinese, Malays, Indians and Eurasians in HDB flats.

Also, i always read about Caucasians adopting Asian kids. Didn't really hit home till i went to Disneyland. I saw Asian kids, Korean, Chinese and maybe Japanese (i am not sure), calling "Mummy" and running into the arms of White mothers. I was taken aback. Good that these kids finally have homes, but the differences are there, and it is damn obvious. Will these kids have identity problems next time? But i guess, it beats living alone in an orphanage.

New York Trip

Can't believe i am back so fast. Seems like yesterday when i just stepped off the plane onto New York, enjoying the deliciously cold weather. 2 weeks passed so fast. Truth be told, i nearly extended by vacation for another week. Nearly. Didn't want to come back to Singapore anymore. Really. The place there is so much more nicer than Singapore. No stress, easygoing pace, very friendly and warm people, alot of opportunites to develop and expend whatever talents you have, and i really mean whatever talents. Not like in Singapore, where the only talents the people choose to recognise are brains, and more brains. The only setback is security because of the gun laws in US. But in my opinion, security is more to do with your faith. Anyhow, i don't see Singapore being so safe anymore, what with the murder of Huang Na. I sincerely wanted to just stay put in New York with my cousins and migrate on the spot. I was bugging my mother incessantly to migrate with immediate effect. It is easier to get a green card since our relatives were American citizens. I didn't think she took me seriously until i overheard her talking to my father. Haha. Imagine my pleasant surprise. But it is not possible, since i am going Melbourne to study and my brother got to go into the army. Maybe after. Maybe. After this trip, i finally understood why there are so many millionaires in US. Because the pay is high, and the cost of living is really cheap. A hotel doorman can earn up to US$300/day. Same for a taxi driver. And groceries are cheap cheap cheap! I don't know how to emphasize it anymore. You know a carton of milk here costs SG$2 or 3+? Over there, for a large bottle (those really large ones with handles), it costs only US$1+. In case you think the exchange rate is very high, it is not. US$1 = SG$1.60 Go figure the math. Your mouth will water.

Over there, they are pretty generous. Whatever you buy, the portions are huge, the price is small. The exact opposite in Singapore. Closer to home for us teenagers, this is another example. 1 pair of Levis Jeans costs SG$135. Over there, 2 pairs cost US$50. Now, can you see the difference?? Can't take this anymore. Singapore has its good points, but the environment is only good for certain type of people to excel. I don't think i like it very much. Ok, enough ramblings. I visited New York, Washington DC, Baltimore, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Florida. We only heard of how great the US is in scientific technology. But when i went there, and visited all the museums, i can tell you art lovers will be in paradise, especially in Washington. Singaporean art lovers cried when the government finally relented to bulid the Esplanade. They will just die when they go to US. Sincerely, even i, for one who's never interested in the Arts, sat up and took notice. I saw paintings, sculptures, fossils, whatever you ever dreamt of seeing. You got it. Art lovers will flourish over there. Just for Washington alone, you need at least 6 months just to view all the museums over there. In fact, i didn't even manage to cover a quarter of the museum exhibits even though i spent 2-3 hours in one over there.

First, a bit of US history. I was staring at the mixture of races on the streets, Whites, Blacks, Hispanics, Asians etc, when it suddenly occurred to me, who exactly are the natives. According to my cousin who is a teacher over there, the natives are actually the Red Indians. The British came over, conquered and took over the land. They called it America. Then i realised it was quite comical. So actually the age old rivalry between the English and the Americans is not really as it seems. It is more like the rivalry between the English and the not-so-satisfied English. Isn't it funny how they always purposely defy each other. For instance, the British uses the metric system which we all use. We talk in terms of kilometers, degree celcius and kilograms. The Americans insist on using the Imperial System and refuse to budge, so they end up talking in miles, Farenheit and pounds. The English uses the A and O levels, the Americans use SATs. How strange. But i can't help feeling that the Americans triumph in the end. Glory to the underdog! Something else. Do you know that the in the US population, there are actually more Blacks than Whites? There is quite a surprise, considering that racisim still prevails.

I also learnt that New York is located in Central America. Alaska in North America. South America consists of countries such as Peru, Columbia and i think Mexico?

In New York, i stayed over at Hotel Pennsylvannia. It is located in the heart of New York, just like Singapore's Mandarin Hotel. So imagine our shock when we got our rooms. My aunt and uncle were lucky. Their rooms were ok. Come to mine. I nearly faint. The heater didn't work. That is not a problem. But there were discarded cigarette butts in it and a ton of other rubbish that i forced myself not to see. The walls were peeling and they crumbled towards the floor. So there were actually debris. Yeah, i can't believe it. The bedcover covered some of the debris. I was so disgusted, i peeled the covers right off and abandoned them on the floor. The bathroom is a sickly yellow colour, small and cramped. The ceiling had water stains which reminded me of the horror show, "Dark Waters". Eeks. The only advantages were that the tap of the shower was easy to use, not the mixing kinds (i hate those!), and anytime we wanted to go shop, we just pop out of the hotel. My only regret? I forgot to shoot more pictures of the hotel room. After staying there, we realise that it was a 1 star hotel. Very funny. Even our US relatives can't believe it. And it costs a hefty US$188/day. And you know something? Dogs are allowed in the hotel. They can walk around freely, no need for cages. We visited Chinatown in NY a number of times, to have our reunion dinners and to have a look. I realise that there were really alot of Asians in US. Oh, and i forgot to mention the fact that in NY, evey hour you will hear the wail of sirens and see ambulances, police cars and fire engines racing pass. I took a couple of pictures, you can take a look after i upload everything. It's crazy, really. Very bustling and noisy. The people in NY are also very impatient. There are a ton of cars on the roads, and drivers just keep tooting their horns even though they know it is futile. Traffic still inch slowly. But they horn anyway. Haha. In Singapore, you probably get slapped with a fine for disturbing the peace. Haha. The cars there are extremely cheap, bordering on the edge of insanity. A small car costs only US$1500. No COE, no road tax, nothing. Just an annual fee of US$35 for inspection. Petrol is dirt cheap. My uncle has 3 cars, and his petrol bill comes up to only US$100/mth. We have one car, and already our bills are sky high. My cousin who is 17 this year, already drives a car to school. My brother and i were green with envy. And my cousin drives back home during free periods in school. Can you believe that???

Another thing i noticed is that practically every house has a basketball hoop installed in front of their garage or lawn. Us cousins, only warmed up to one another, after we played a game of basketball. Funny. And their TV? They show really good shows. They don't even subscribe to cable. Just TV, and they have all kinds of movies screening. Programmes such as Scooby-Doo 2, The Passion of Christ, Mean Girls etc. Recent movies all on TV. How cool can you get?? Over here, we simply watch re-runs of Titanic. Very funny. Oh, and they have hosted shows such as Jerry Springer. It is kind of dumb, as the show interviews people who have secrets. And then you can see fights breaking out as each party tries to defend their actions. Haha. When we were over there, the newspapers were screaming about a ridiculous crime committed by teens. Apparently 6 teenagers stole a credit card, used it to buy a 20 pound frozen turkey and hurled it out of the car they were speeding in, on the freeway. The turkey smashed through a motorist's windscreen and slammed into the driver's face. The driver had fractured cheekbones and jaw. She was in a critical condition. It happened on Long Island, a town, a half-hour drive from New York, right where my cousins were living in. Although Long Island is like the different streets of Tampines in Singapore, their streets are pretty huge. Long Island itself only, is already 3 times the size of Singapore. You need 3 hours to drive from one end to the other. You need only half an hour to do that in Singapore.

I also never understood one of the commandments, "Thou shall not kill." Until my uncle related some incident. I thought all murderers will always end up apprehended by the law. Apparently not so, in New York. My uncle was saying how he and his group of friends were travelling in a car. His friend who was driving was annoyed with how another car abruptly cut in front of his path. In his anger, he flashed his middle finger. The other driver and his occupant drove over, yanked out a gun and just shot my uncle's friend, before speeding off onto the sidewalk and away. They were never caught, my uncle's friend died. It happened in broad daylight, in front of my uncle's and the rest of his friends. By the way, the driver and his occupant were a Black and a White. Another incident was when this person bought over a house. He decided to tear down the old house to build a new one. In the process of demolition, they found a corpse buried in the walls. The criminal was never found. Now i understand the commandment. You CAN get away from your crimes.

The buildings in NY are all very nicely built. Not the box-like types you see frequently in Singapore, but these biuldings are really artistically built. Very tasteful, very soothing to the eye. The view was also breath-taking. Revolving doors seem to be a common sight too. Almost every building is installed with them.

In Florida, we went shopping like mad, at all the factory outlets. Before i left, Yinglin told me that 4 days spent at Florida was not enough. My US uncle echoed the same view. I didn't get it, since i thought that Florida only had theme parks. And how many time can you take the same ride man? I found out that the view you had when you are just 9 is totally different when you are 19. There were lots of things to shoot (pictures). The moment we arrived at our hotel, it is like right out of an Enid Blyton fairytale. Hotels were not the kinds you see, but were build in the forms of castles, and even an overturned Disney house! I got a picture of the Castle Hotel but not the upside down one. Sad. Gigantic teddy bears were constructed, it was really fairyland. Before the trip, i told myself to snap pictures of the animated characters, because you can see life-size fairytale characters such as Cinderalla, Snow White, and even Mickey Mouse walking around taking pictures and signing autographs. Alas, there simply wasn't enough time. I only managed to snap Stitch. There was so many pictures to take. It was insane! So many to take, so little time. Your heart can ache man. We took roller coasters which were really not very hair-raising. Some of the parks were also quite different from what i remembered, than my mother told me that my memory was all mixed up. Apparently, i visited 3 Disneylands before. Los Angeles, Florida and Tokyo. I forgot eveything. Haha. My mum lamented it was such a waste of money to take me to such places. Whatever. Anyway, there were numerous factory outlets, Levis, Nike, Adidas, Reebok, Timberland, Guess. The list goes on. Prices that can make your eyes pop and your mouth to gape. Naturally, we rushed to get the stuff we wanted. We only managed to visit 3 theme parks, Epcott, Magic Kingdom and MGM Studios. Already, we had no time. I hope i can go back there with friends after i graduate. The photography is endless. Not nice to go with parents or little kids. Not much freedom. Heard that, Kah Ming, Lydia and Yinglin?? Shall we go after we graduate? Hong Kong is opening a 4th Disneyland next year too!

We also made a trip down to Washington DC. Our initial plan to Canada was shelved when it started snowing over there. We didn't bring the right type of winter clothes. Already, we were freezing under 3 layers of thick jackets. We will just die in snow, though i wanted to build snowmen! En route to Washington, we stopped by at Baltimore and Pennsylvania. Both were really nice peaceful areas, a stark contrast from bustling New York. In Baltimore, we went to the port. It is like Coller Quay in Singapore, yet you see people jogging. Imagine jogging in Coller Quay. People will stare, point their fingers and laugh. In US, they are very tolerant and liberal. That is another reason why i didn't want to come back! Oh, and you know that the striptease started in Baltimore before spreading globally? There was a small diner that didn't make money, so the owner thought of a brainchild. He hired waitresses clad in tight clothing and extremely short skirts to serve the customers. Naturally, business bloomed. Such a tranquail country, but a sleazy trade can originate there. Ironic! Also, the first Ice cream and umbrella factories in the US opened in Baltimore. In Baltimore, i also saw for the first time, the Barnes and Noble bookstore. They operate an online bookstore, that i was didn't really know was geunine or not. Now i know better. In Pennsylvania, the view was awesome. In Singapore, the goverment has trishaw riders for tourists, over there they have horse carriages. We took one, and went for a historic tour. No need to mention that the rider of the horse carriage was stunningly handsome. Haha. I saw the house of the Father of American surgery, he was the first to perform an operation successfully. I saw the church which George Washington and Thomas Jefferson (Presidents of the United States) attended. I saw a Jweish Synagogue for the first time, and one with such historic significance too! It was the first synagogue built to look like one. We toured a neighbourhood which was the second most expensive in Pennsylvania. Houses start at a whooping US$1 miliion. I saw the buildings featured on the back of the US 10, 100 and i think, also the 5 dollar bill. Beautiful cities. In case you are wondering, Baltimore, Pennsylvania and Washington are like different areas in US, like Tampines, Pasir Ris and Bedok are different areas in Singapore. The only difference is the travelling time. You take 4hours travelling at around 100km/h from NY to Washington.

Lastly, Washington DC. In case, you are wondering what DC stands for, it means District of Columbia. I do not know why DC is added to the name though. Some nuggets of amazing information. 70% of the population in DC are blacks. And you don't see skyscrapers in DC, because a rule was laid down that the highest structure in DC is the Washington Memorial. No other buildings can be higher. The life in DC, seemed to be straight out of a movie. You see families strolling down the sidewalks, with beautiful autumn trees in the background, you see people walking and playing with their dogs in the park. Damn, i already yearn to go back. Not a good sign. I saw the FBI building and the Pentagon, though i couldn't get any pictures as no one was allowed inside. Tourists used to be able to go in, but after the September 11 attacks, security heightened. Same with the White House but that one at least i could zoom in from a distance. I saw the aviation museum and the museum filled with fossils of dinosaurs. Amazing. So many things, so little time. I want to go back again someday.

This has been a pretty long post. Anything else i forgot, i probably included it as captions under the photos i shot. I am uploading it now. But i doubt it can be completed today. I shot 688 photos in all. I am so happy. Shucks, i really want to migrate. Singapore is so stifling. Stifling system, stifling people, stifling weather. You know how warm and friendly the people are over there? Let me give you an idea. I saw strangers approaching each other, one asking for directions. You know how the other replied? "I am not really sure, baby, maybe you can try..." In Singapore, such a reply would have probably earned you a slap or warrant a stare. Now you know...The only consolation is that i am heading to Melbourne next year for 6 years. I am hoping the pace of life is like America's. I told my mum i will work, get the money and migrate all of us over to US. Haha.

Cellular

Quite a nice show. Very exciting. But Kim Basinger looks so old! She looks like a grandmother in the show!

Check out Chris Evans man! He's cool!!

Finally bought my digicam. I am so satisfied. I didn't get the Olympus or the Panasonic. I got a Kodak instead. It was highly recommended by the man at the camera store. The lens was the best amongst the 3, and the colour quality is the most superb. That is important for me. Best of all, it is still a 10x optical zoom and below my budget. Yay! Got a 512MB memory card too. Wanted to get a 1GB memory card, but the fellow said 512 is good enough. Can take 500+ pictures at 3.0 megapixels quality. I hope so, if not i am doomed for my US trip. You can view the 3 cameras below:

Kodak DX 6490
Olympus C 770 UZ
Panasonic Lumix DMC FX20

I also went to search for a USB cable that can help transfer photos from my handphone to the computer. And you know how much it costs? SGD$55! I can't believe it! It is daylight robbery! 50 over bucks for a mere piece of wire?! Are you outta your mind? So i went searching for small 2 megapixels camera. I saw the Philips one. It really is a beauty but it costs almost 200 bucks. You can check out the picture here:

Philips Camera Key 019

I didn't buy it, way out of my budget, and it is insane to have so many cameras. Just got to make do. Haha. Meanwhile, i am still trying to figure out how to shoot pictures on the spur of the moment without using my handphone...

Just updated my Photo Memories, so go check it out if you are free.

Went to watch Cellular with Yiwei today. More updates in the next entry!

Jackie

When i came back from NUS, i saw the wound on Jackie's ear. It was bloody. It didn't even heal. He got the wound when Randy (my other dog) bit him. Anyway, the wound didn't heal since Jackie kept scratching it. And it has been a week already. I panicked and really thought the wound would become maggot infected, so instead of catching up on my sleep, i dragged the idiotic dog down to the nearest pet store to fit out the fan-like collar, as you can see from the pictures. It prevents Jackie from scratching his wound. Anyway, the first time i placed it on him, i couldn't help roaring in laughter. He really did look comical. I dubbed him 'Satellite Dish'. Hahaha!

He was very lost and confused at first. The collar blocks his side view so when he moves he bumps into furniture, which makes a loud noise, that scares the hell out of him. In the end, he just keep standing on one spot, not daring to sleep, sit or eat (a first!). Highly amusing.

Today is the second day, and he is adapting well. He behaves normally already. Just ramming his way through. Haha. But he is whining and growling in discontentment because he can't sooth his itch. It is really funny. He just rushes over to me and dump his head onto my lap, wanting me to take the collar off, but that is not going to happen. Haha.

Milkshakes!

This is strange. I can access this blog but i can't access my headlines blog. Oh well, anyway, back to my title. Milkshakes!! Let me tell you, you won't know what a milkshake is till you try the milkshake by Billy Bombers!!! It only costs SGD$5.90. It is simply heavenly and sinful as well, i might add. But i tell you, it is the epitome of what a milkshake should be! Go ahead and indulge! It will drag you out from a depression for sure, or shoot you to paradise, if you are not already there. There is an outlet at Century Square, Tampines, top floor. Try it!!! You will not live to regret it! :p

Anyway, i am still reminiscing the happy times i had in Lydia's NUS hostel even though it is only 1 day since i am back. Oh man, i miss her hostel already. Lydia!!! You hear me? It's fun! And i am also recollecting the dumb things we did in Fullerton and along the way, can't stop grinning about it. People gonna think i am crazy soon!

I am so excited. 3 things.
1) Going to meet Yiwei tomorrow, to catch a movie and get my digicam and my iPod universal adapter set!
2) I am going to KTV with Yiwei and Jiaying on wednesday! First time there! So fun. Heard about the crazy stunts Lydia and her twin pulled off when they were there! Haha!
3) I am going US soon! Finally a break out of Singapore!!! To Disneyland! And all the delicious number of pictures i am going to snap! To see my cousins!! Yay!!

Haha. I am going mad. Sometimes, i wonder whether all these excitement is good for my heart. Haha.

Still pondering which digicam i should buy. Olympus C770 UZ with 10x optical zoom or Panasonic Lumix FZ20 with 12x zoom. If i am just looking for zoom, then the choice is clear cut but i never really heard of Panasonic as a camera brand.... However, reviews are good for Panasonic, though Olympus had rave reviews too. Hope the camera shop guy will be in a good mood tomorrow. Called a few months back to enquire about the Olympus and he sounded extremely friendly. Called just now about the Panasonic, and he sounded impatient and sarcastic. Wonder whether it is the same guy. Stupid. People can be really rude. Hope Mr Nice Guy is in the shop tomorrow.

NUS Hostel is fun!!

I am in Lydia's room now, struggling to keep awake whilst she is studying. Tried to access Blogger last night, but it kept saying that there was an internal error!!

NUS hostel is so fun. Lydia's room is new and cosy. Best of all, the toilets are clean too! So different from the mental image i had of a hostel. I thought all communal sharing facilities would be filthy, but Kent Ridge hall defies the norm man! I hope College Square in Australia is something like this too. I mean how cool can it get? U hang out with your friends the whole day, then come back to your cosy room to sleep. When you arise the next morning, you see your classmates and friends streaming down the street to go for lecture. You eat breakfast, study, exercise together with your group of chums, Nothing beats that man!

2 nights ago, we watched The Doll Master at 11.40pm. At every climax, Lydia would scream and scream even before the spooky effects were on! She caused Xue Ling and i to be creeped out and the whole theatre to break out in gaffaws and shrieks, depending on your gender. What a riot!

We were so nervous after that, that when we arrived in Lydia's dorm, i was too scared to use the toilet!! Haha. Then Lydia asked whether we should set an alarm for the next morning, and i said no. I mean waking up naturally is the most relaxing thing you can do. Haha. The thing is, i assumed our bodyclock is the same - 9am. Like hell it was. Xue Ling and Lydia woke up only at 11am! And they were still exhausted. Haha. And i dozed off again while waiting for them. Anyway, i met up with Nazreen and her group of friends. We were joking around and exploring NUS campus, sort of. Haha. Then we went to meet Kah Ming. In the process, Lydia, Xue Ling, Nazreen and i went to the Law library to wait for Kah Ming. I tell you, it was hilarious. Xueling and Lydia were wearing super short shorts because they thought we were only going to eat at the Arts canteen. Hence, when we entered the solemn Law library, they headed directly to a computer terminal so that they could hide their underdressed legs. Nazreen and i could not stop laughing. The spectacle didn't end there. We shifted. I wanted to move to a table amongst the Law students so that we could be better 'camouflaged' from the libarian. But Xue Ling who was leading the way, overshot the place, and we went all the way to the other end, where there was a row of couches....facing the entire Law library and its occupants. Cornered, we meekly sat down and tried to busy ourselves with our handphones. Naz coolly took out her Engineering notes and tutorial and attempted to do it. My worse fear came true when i saw a libarian approaching us. I panicked but Naz just told me to shut up and act normally. So i grabbed her engin notes to share. Out of the corner of my eye, i saw the other 2 fiddling with their handphones with utmost focus. It was really funny!! Haha!

When we got out to meet Kah Ming, we were just so amused. It was easy to tell that we were definitely not part of the Law crowd. I don't know how to explain it but the Law people seemed very serious and proper, while we, like a bunch of clowns, just giggled our way through. Haha! Ran into a few of my TKGian mates. What a small world! So glad i meant them. Didn't know that Cheryl (Chan) lived in the same hall as Lydia, and Denise lived nearby. Bumped into Adilah too!

Then Lydia and i went to eat the chocolate buffet at Fullerton Hotel. It was fabulous! We were quite high on chocolates, don't ask me how, and like drunkards, we laughed continously. Haha. We also succeded in scaring ourselves in the posh toilet of Fullerton. I thought i glimpsed a doll when actually it was my own reflection. Haha! When i pointed out a guy whom i initially thought was headless, Lydia herself too, got a fright. Haha! It was so fun!

Having stomached so much rich chocolate, i demanded that we run 4runs around NUS at 12.15am. Lydia reluctantly agreed before plonking herself down into a deep sleep. I dozed off myself and when i woke up, it was 1am, and it was pouring!! I was hopping mad. Anyway, we woke up at 5am to run, this time for real. Didn't know NUS was so hilly, we only managed one round. Supposed to head to the airport to study just now, but we are too tired. Leaving in 10mins to eat Popeye's chicken in the airport, and not to study. How lazy can we get? Haha.

This is the kind of life man!

BUSH ROCKS!

BUSH ROCKS! I am going to holler that again! I am glad BUSH WON!!

I have been blog surfing the past hour, and i have come across 6 blogs that ridiculed Bush and lamented that US is in for shit for the next 4 years. Come on, people! What is your problem??!!! Can't you see that Bush is a damn fine leader?? Tell me, where can you find a kind soul who is willing to spend billions just to protect the civilians of other countries which don't really affect him in a very big way? And Kerry! My gosh, what exactly do you see in him?? I can only see an egoistic boastful soldier who puffs his chest out and blows his trumpet about his past actions when he was a recruit. Shouldn't you be humble about it? And just because you have been in the military doesn't mean that you know how to handle terrorism. It is 2 different matters altogether!

Take the Iraq war for example. Kerry supporters say more people are suffering, and Bush lied because there are no nuclear weapons to be found. I beg to differ. The Iraqis have been liberated from their tyrant of a leader and his chip of the old block sons. Under their leadership, Iraq will never progress, and human rights never restored! How can the people be suffering in poverty when the palace of the leader is brimming with gold? The only reason why there are so many casualties now is because there are not enough troops backing the US in providing law and order in Iraq. And there is internal dispute between continuing the war within US itself. The fact that US is still holding on, is remarkable indeed!! Maybe, if everyone unites and rally with Bush, this would have been much faster and smoother, and less painful. So quit groaning about it and unite behind your President!

So excited about tonight. Today is officially my last day of tuition. And now, i have the bliss of having absolutely nothing to do, and instead of resting which i had been craving for the past few weeks, i am surfing the net for news, trying busy myself. I have never watched so much TV in my life, of Pet Nation on Discovery, or Wildlife on National Geographic, to cookey classes on Channel 5 and even Celebrity Gossips on E! entertainment. The wonders of a bored mind.

Oh and my mum asked me whether i was interested in a cashiering job from December to January. Guess my reply? Haha! Always wanted to be a cashier, now is my chance to get a feel of what it is like!

Supposed to head down to the gym, but it is so far away and so inconvenient, i didn't go. It is now pouring, thank god. Which means, later in the evening, it would be dry and then i am going to head down to Tampines Park connector to run. Yeah!!! Oh, and i am munching on Broccoli and ham again. I figured since i can't restrain myself from chomping, i should at least eat less fatty food. They don't taste that bad either. Anyone knows whether ketchup is fatty? I am very tempted to smear it over my broccoli. Haha!

Will be meeting Lydia tonight at Cineleisure. We are watching Doll Master at 11.40pm! So exciting!!! Then, i will be heading to her campus to bunk in. Probably won't have time to update my blog. Anyway, tomorrow night, we are gonna enjoy a sumptuous meal of chocolate at Fullerton Hotel. Been anticipating it for the longest time! But of course, before that, we will be running! It will be one more night of bunking before going to the airport to study on Saturday. This is my kind of life! Yoo Hoo!!

Oh No!!!!!!!!!

Take a look at this. Is this normal eating habit???? And i did not run today because it poured. I am really upset. Got to run tomorrow. This is not good. My metabolic rate shot up? I don't think so.

What i ate today (This is embarrassing!):

1) A packet of fried bee hoon, egg and luncheon meat (breakfast)
2) 2 toast bread with ham, mayonise and al-something sprouts
3) 1 cup of tea
4) 1 cup of coffee
5) 4 strips of Maoma sweets
6) 2 bowls of soup, some pieces of meat (dinner)
7) 1 bowl of salad (Broccoli, sausages and carrots)

Oh man, i am gonna die. It is worse to see it in print. I am gonna freak out soon.

By right, i am supposed to be in the gym now, running on the treadmill like a human gerbil with loud music blaring in my ears. Alas, reality is not as it seems....

So i am now at home, updating a blog which should have been done yesterday and chomping on sweets that i am not supposed to...

I deleted my Headlines and Medical News blogs because i realised i was infringing on copyright laws. And Nazreen aptly told me that she will soon be seeing me in jail. But i wasn't satisfied. Man, i wanted to note down all those news happening round the globe, and medical news which i am sure will help me sooner or later. So i came up with the brilliant idea of just copying the title, writing my own summary of the article before linking back to the article. That according to Yinglin and Naz is all right. Then it should be fine, especially since it has been drilled into Yinglin by her SMU professors what copyright is all about. Haha!

And then we came to today. I continued updating my other blogs (felling a bit reproachful that i hastily deleted the blogs and didn't have a calm enough brain to take down the links of the nicer articles) and now i can't find them. Great. Never mind, lesson learnt!

Since i am not going to the gym, i have to be heading down to the track soon. Need to run. My appetite has ballooned. Shit. I mean it. I am like eating 2 dinners and 2 lunches?? And i don't mean small meals. I eat in bulk! Oh man. What is the point of running so much when my eating habit is directly proportional to it???

But hey, i went to run my 2.4km yesterday, and i did it in 13 minutes! Yoo hoo!!! Must get my fitness back! Yeah!!

Oh forgot to mention the fact that Yinglin and I were studying in the airport yesterday, and we were really scruntinising all the air stewardess and bitching about them. Ah...feel so bad, never gossiped so much in my life. Got to stop this!!! But really, it is true, i don't know why. When i studied in the airport in JC1, the air stewardess were really shapely and beautiful but now... they, well...i think they have evolved a little bit. Arrgghh, i should stop this. Do visit the airport when you have the chance. A first eye account would be better! ;p
But i thought air stewardess were demure and polite, even after i spotted many of them puffing away at the bus terminal. However, yesterday, i actually heard an air stewardess utter a not-so-nice phrase, very crude. I was left in shock and labelled ignorant by Yinglin. Great.

I'm so excited!

Someone stop me. I am like a bubble. Expanding and expanding with excitement. I am going to burst soon. I am overwhelmed with exhilaration. Can't stop thinking about dance and running in University of Melbourne!! Somebody, please try to calm me down. I was thinking of joining the Hip Hop Funk class in the gym, because that is the one i took up since last year. Dancesport is more of ballroom dancing like Salsa, Rhumba, Cha Cha and Mumba. But i don't mind giving it a shot. Saw one of my Judo friends dancing it, and she looked like she is really enjoying it! It looked fun! But gym dance classes are not geunine dance classes i feel. They cater more to working out a sweat....Hmmm, never mind, i will join dancesport, hope it goes well. When i am back in November for the holidays, shall join Rachael (my dance friend) in resuming Hip Hop and Street Jazz! Yeah!!! So i will know many different styles! I want to learn Tap Dance after i graduate too! Yeah, so fun!!!

Running and dancing! Woo hoo!!!! Great fitness activities, minus the violence! Yeah!!! Add the gracefulness. I must overcome my fear of dancing!!!
